Cherry Creek needs a public venue in which to hold community meetings and have emergency food storage and sustainability in our community. We are more than 75% elderly and handicapped and would require handicapped access and handicapped bathrooms. Some members of the Cherry Creek Community were told by Sara Adler, USDA , in a public meeting that community connect grants were available but White Pine County would have to write the grants. The community is requesting Jim Garza to look into a Community Connect Grant for Cherry Creek. I may be contacted by phone 775-591-0349 Thank you. Marie Jardine

I wish I understood how it ,this site works.
How often is it read ,by someone in our government.
Who is responsible for the reading.
And I assume ,questions and ideas, presented by the residents, are passed along to the commision,by this person or persons,in a timely manner,yes/no?
How can other residents read, what each other have written?
Can we expect personal return postings, made by you,to answer the questions we have,or to give evaluation ,to our ideas? All in all,I believe this site to be an excellent format ,for our residents to reach our government, without having to drive the MANY miles needed to attend commision meetings, just to be granted a few short minutes to voice our concerns, and for our government to reach us,with an extra amount of time ,to explain their actions,on our behalf.I applaud your initiative and concern, for creating this site ,by the people, for the people.

Hoop gardens would help us extend our growing season. This could help supply sustainable food resources to our Rural Community. How do we apply for hoop gardens?

In the event of an emergency there should be some type of emergency food relief set up. We have food insecurity issues that need to be addressed by the County. Food storage needs to be set up in a heated building, free of chemicals and fumes. A freezer would be necessary to store meat. USDA has toolkits to assess food security, and grants to help with rural food insecurity.
