A marriage license can be obtained from the County Clerk's Office during regular business hours. The fee for a license is $60 payable in cash, credit or debit cards, money orders, or cashier's checks. The license is valid for one year from the date it is issued and may be used anywhere within the State of Nevada. View a list of persons authorized to solemnize marriages (PDF).
Before issuing a marriage license the clerk requires proof of name and age. The most widely used form of identification is a driver's license. If none is available, please contact the Clerk's Office for additional acceptable forms or see NRS 122.040.
Both parties must be present to apply for a marriage license. A minor, under the age of 18, needs the consent of at least one custodial parent or legal guardian. Identification of the minor and the consenting parent or guardian plus a certified copy of the child's birth certificate are required.
If either party were previously married, they will be required to provide the date, city, and state of the divorce, annulment, or death. If either party were divorced within the last 30 days, we request a copy of the divorce decree.
A domestic partnership in Nevada is a civil contract which grants domestic partners "...the same rights, protections, benefits, responsibilities, obligations, and duties as...parties to any other civil contract...."
